Biloxi with Daddy

A few weeks ago, we were able to go with Daddy to his annual convention at the coast. We had a really good time just being lazy, napping in the hotel room, snacking, and playing in the really cool pool at the IP. Oh, and I of course had to make a quick Target trip while we were there!

Did I mention all we did was play, snack, and be lazy?

And, now, a little stroll down memory lane.....

Cutie Pie!

That was last year at the same convention...a lot can change in a year! (although he still gives that look a lot...I have no idea where he gets it?)

And, MY favorite part of the week....

Snuggling with my little man in a big fluffy hotel bed reading books. It's pretty much my favorite part of every day!

15 Months

Wow. Really? 15 months already? Didn't I just post 14 months? Oh, I did, didn't I.

My 15 month old is so much fun and oh so bad and oh so sweet all at once. I've heard the saying "he's all boy" before, but coming from a family of girls, I just didn't really get it until now. Well, I get it, and he is ALL boy. ALL. The. Time. At times he is so bad, but he can melt your heart like none other.

He still speaks his own lanquage, and it is hilarious. He talks really fast, and all of the time. He does know how to say "I want it"  and "noooo" very well so he pretty much gets what he wants that way. He says so much that I can't even list everything, but his newest trick is counting to 3. He can repeat just about anything you ask him to...even blueberries

.

He truely is amazed by life. You can tell by the cute little suprised face he makes that he really loves life and loves to learn new things. We have a lot to learn from this little guy.

    He LOVES:
  • Mickey Mouse "Mou"
  • Elmo
  • Trucks
  • His big crab float that he wags all over the house. Best $5 ever spent...even if it never sees the water again.
  • Horses
  • Warm milk
  • Water...pool,  ocean, bathtub, sprinkler, water hose, etc
  • Dougie. He is more attached than ever. Is not fooled one bit by the replacement I bought. He will have none of it.
  • Oranges
  • Outside. He doesn't care how hot it is.
  • Dancing...He's got moves.
  • Books. Not that this is new, he has loved them as long as I can remember, but he is big enough now to go pick out his own books. And, he thinks about it when he picks them out. He will pull one out, look at it, and put it back if it is not the one he wants. BIG BOY!
  • The portable DVD player. I'm not big on TV, and I don't really want him to be (we might watch 15 minutes a day in the morning while he drinks his milk), but after being in the car for hours WITHOUT entertainment, I welcomed the idea...and it was fabulous! He made the "suprised face" when he saw it and watched it for hours (instead of whining or screaming..yay!)!
  • Dogs (or any animal for that matter)
  • Attention. Has to have it all the time....and he generally gets it! Says "hey" to literally every person we pass by.
  • Going to bed in ON TIME in HIS bed. I am so blessed to not fight with him about going to bed. Ever. As soon as I say "tell daddy night, night",  he gives his daddy hugs and starts heading up the stairs. He may want to read a hundred books once we get up there, but once I say goodnight, he doesn't cry or whine about it. He even loves napping at home.

He Doesn't Care Much for:

  • Sitting still
  • Having his diaper changed (requires sitting still)
  • Cold milk. I hope my next child is not so picky about the temperature of milk.
  • Bananas. Can't hide the darn things in anything. I try and I never succeed.
  • Being told "no". This is pretty much the main thing he doesn't like as with every other 15 month old I would assume. He reacts several ways to the word no, and you never know what you are going to get...he either A) Will mock you and repeat "NOO" and actually do the right thing B) Scream C) Do it anyway and give you a "haha" look.
  • Coming inside (this may trigger a major meltdown)
That's pretty much it....he likes a whole lot more than he doesn't, but he does have to hear the word "no" a whole lot!

Dream Jobs...

Warning: if you are looking for pictures of my adorable son, you are in the wrong post. This is just me, doing a little daydreaming. Sorry, I will return with lots of adorable-ness soon.

Anyone who reads my blog probably knows that my number 1 dream job would be to be a stay at home mom. Period. End of Story. I would totally be Suzie (or Amanda) Homemaker. I daydream of having the laundry all done and put away and having a house so clean that you don't even need plug in smelly things to make the weird mystery smells go away. I'd have dinner ready and waiting on Leon after picking fresh veggies from the garden, wearing an apron that I just whipped up for myself during nap time. Since that is never going to happen, I thought I'd come up with a list of other dream jobs that also probably will never happen. And, for the record,  even if I did get to be a SAHM, I'm pretty sure that I'd still freak out when I look at the clock and realize it is already 4:30 and I haven't gotten out of my PJ's or thought about supper as I wonder where in the world the day went...at least SOME days.  A girl can dream, right?

Dream Jobs:

1)Blogger: Who knew people could make money blogging? My problem would be finding my niche. Would I focus on thoughts about motherhood? Funny? Serious? DIY projects? Crafts? Food/recipes? Sewing? Budgeting? I think I'll call my blog "The Happy Homebody" and just do a little of it all. I'll be like Pioneer Woman.

2) Photographer: Since I'm going to be starting real blog, I definitely need to have more eye appealing photos. I mean, have you ever visited a "good" blog and seen a bad picture?  Even if I weren't going to be a professional blogger, I would still like to be a photographer. How awesome would it be to be able to catch some of the best moments in a person's life and freeze it for them forever? I get butterflies thinking about it.

3) Singer: Ok, I'm just kidding on that one. I just wish I could sing.

4) Kid's clothing designer/maker: Is that even a title? Maybe I would do something specifically for boys. There are so many adorable clothes out there for girls, but the little boys get left out of a lot. I do agree that there is much more that can be done with girls clothing with all of the bows, bubbles, dresses, ruffles, etc, and generally speaking, people are more likely to spend more money on girls. However, that is precisely why I would like to do something just for the boys. There is actually a lot out there, you just have to look (really hard!).  I'm not sure what I'd call my little shop....Snakes and Snails? The Blue Frog?

Oh no, Leon has just informed me of a building downtown for rent...I must move on to my next dream before I quit my day job....

5) Party planner:  I've wanted to do this for years. I love parties, and I love for every detail to be planned out perfectly. I've always tried to take even the family birthday parties to another level by never settling for a store bought cake, no matter how little sleep I had to go on just to get it finished in time. Does Kroger put that much love in their cakes? I think not! (They are becoming increasingly more appealing these days tho, I must say)  I'd be the photographer, the menu planner, the cake decorator, wardrobe coordinator, and decorator. However, I couldn't do a thing without my friend over at MG Paperworks. She's actually started living her dream! Even if it is an on the side job for right now, it took a lot of guts!!  Go, Maggie!

After a long...and I mean, LONG, week in the pharmacy, I start to wonder why exactly I became a pharmacist in the first place. It does make me happy to help people and to always learn new things but sometimes I don't feel like I am helping anyone at all....nor am I enjoying what I do. I'm not saying I hate my job, because I don't. I love the people I work with and I love working hard and doing a good job. And, quite honestly, I love getting a paycheck! I just feel like there is something more I could be doing. Ya know? In pharmacy school, I felt like there were so many opportunities out there, but now I'm not so sure. I do know that I picked a career that I could work part time if I so chose to, so maybe if I say that enough times, Leon will actually go for it.  Then, when I only work part time,  I can insert one of my dream jobs in to all that extra time I'll have on my hands. :)

Disclaimer: I'm fully aware of how lucky I am to even have a job these days, and to have the job/schedule that I have. Believe, me...I do know this!

William Fischer Smith

Well, baby Smith finally made his appearance..in perfect time I might add. We all just knew it was going to be a girl, but we were wrong!

We just so happened to be traveling to the coast the day after he was born, so we got to make a quick stop by the hospital to hold that little bundle of joy!  I thought it might REALLY make me want another baby soon, but umm, I'm not so sure...I forgot how much tiny babies require (and that has nothing on the attention a 15 month old requires!) It is so fun having these boys so close together. Maybe they will be as close as their momma's were (is that even possible?). Even though 15 months makes a BIG difference right now, in a few years they will be running around everywhere together.

Bishop, for the record, was not concerned much with baby Fischer. As long as he gets [a lot of] attention, still gets to ride Uncle Steve's "was see" and gets to see Nate, he is good to go...baby or no baby.

Sweetness

One happy momma!

Oh, how tiny and sweet he is! Makes me want to go grab Bishop and make him stop growing so fast...but I can't :(
Instead, I'll just look at his pictures of when he was this size and get all emotional and sad and be ridiculous.

My baby boy

I'm so happy for her! She is going to be a fabulous mom!

Quite possibly the proudest grandaddy ever. Period.

That is as close as he wanted to get to the baby.

Ok, maybe looking a the pictures again makes me want another baby a LITTLE bit. MAYBE. Maybe not though :)

Play date

A while back, Brandi and I met at the mall area for a playdate for our boys. It was Bishop's first time there and although he had just woke up, he really enjoyed it. It is a good indoor (free) thing to do on a hot, cold, or rainy day. It was nice catching up with Brandi too! Can't wait to do it again!
