Lately

It has been so ridiculously cold that we run out of things to do! We play play dough, color, craft, watch tv/movies, and build forts :)

His face literally lights up when the mobile comes on.

Bundled up taking Bishop to school. He so reminds me of Ralphie in this outfit.

Trying out his new diapers

Building a "super tall" tower

Drinking his "coffee" Every night after he brushes his teeth he fills up this little cup with water and pretends it is coffee. He shares lots of stories with me while he drinks his coffee about his 10 kids that he has….this kid has QUITE the imagination!

Finally after all of the cold weather we got a tiny bit of snow at our house…enough to build a mini snowman at least….

Ben loves the jumperoo

Leon took me to see Wicked in Memphis for my birthday. It was amazing!

Officer B making pizza for lunch

Love snuggling with these two cuties

My handsome boys before church. Bishop almost had me in tears with this on. He is supposed to be in smocked outfits with knee socks…NOT a sports coat! I remember when Karen gave me Kalebs coat and how I thought it was so big and how he would never fit in it and here he is wearing it. He really looked adorable!

Enjoying some sunshine at the park

He built himself inside a sand castle at the park

Loves his toes

Who needs a paci when you have toes?!

Rocking in the sunshine with my baby. I'm pretty sure this must be what heaven feels like. I can't imagine anything better.

Climbing HIS tree

He could not be more of a boy…always muddy and loves it! And, he loves to ride his tricycle now. And catching worms. And rolling in leaves. I love this little boy and his little brother to pieces!

Rodeo

The last time we headed to Koz was a super short trip so we planned a weekend that we would be able to hang out and play for longer. We decided to take the boys to the Rodeo in Jackson. It was such a fun day. The boys really enjoyed it! Bishop said his favorite part was the "rock and roll" concert and Harvey's favorite was the pigs. I had to literally hold my breath during the bull riding…that stresses me out!
My little family

I can not imagine two cuter cowboys!

Cotton candy, a favorite for the both of us.

Ben doesn't look too thrilled, but he actually did great!

They can find a mud hole anywhere!

Sunday it was warm enough for the boys to play outside most of the day. I love when Bishop can just be a little boy…pulling up trees with the Gator, playing in rocks, running wild, climbing trees, and finding MUD! They had a blast.

4 Months

Time is rolling right along! I feel as though I don't post nearly as much about sweet Ben as I did with Bishop (as most people said would happen!). It certainly does not mean I don't love on him just as much..I just don't have as much time to share. I can't get enough of his silly faces and sweet, chubby cheeks. He truly is a sweet, sweet baby. He is SUCH a huge blessing to our family.

He makes the funniest faces

  • Rolling over is his new trick. He actually first rolled from his back to his tummy. Probably because he didn't get much tummy time because he literally would scream if you put him on his stomach. And, big brother would not have that at all! Now that he can hold his head up much  better, he is ok with laying on his tummy for a minute or two and he has figured out how to roll whenever he wants.

  • Still loves to be swaddled. After he rolled over, I thought I should try to wean him from the swaddle. I remember Bishop gave it up in one or two nights. Not Ben. He goes to bed unswaddled but wakes up around 12 or 1 crying, so I swaddle him and he goes right on back to sleep until 7 or 8. I've read some babies need to be swaddled longer, and obviously he is one of them.
  • Still has skin issues. Some days are better than others but his poor little cradle cap looks terrible. It looks worse now because he scratches it when he is sleeping if he isn't swaddled. I am ready for winter to be OVER because I feel like it makes it so much worse for him. These pictures were on a good day…the day before, not so much.
  • Still nursing every 3-4 hours. Bishop started cereal at this age but I am not ready for all that and he is fine without so I am going to wait until I feel he needs more or until he is 6 months or so. I'm tempted to try the Baby Led Weaning approach that skips the pureed food all together but I probably won't find the time to even look into it. I would just be so scared of choking I think.
  • His favorite toy: His toes. He won't leave socks on and he plays with them and chews them all of the time! As you can see in his pictures, he wasn't interested as interested in taking the picture as he was trying to get his toes!

Could you not eat him up when he makes this face?!

And, got 'em!

A Weekend in Starkvegas

Since we weren't able to visit Starkville during football season, we instead had a non-event weekend in Starkville. We had lots of fun! So nice to be in one of our favorite towns with some of our favorite people with not much on the agenda but hanging out, shopping, eating, and relaxing! We may have persuaded the Christophers to never have children but we all had a fantastic weekend :)

He plays with these every time we go!

Local culture on a spring like day

We went to the bookstore and stopped by the stadium to see the expansion while it was open.

And, it was OPEN open so we played for a second. Maybe we would have gotten kicked out, but hey, it was worth it. It was a very memorable day! And besides, someone was there and said it was ok…not sure whether they had the authority to tell me or not, but we took our chances :)

He ran all the way down the field. It is a LOONG way! He sat down on the way back at the 50 yard line. He made it though!

Picking out some new books at B&N

These sweet cheeks enjoying some sunshine

Maggie's neighbors came over and we grilled hotdogs and the kids had such fun together!
