Pickwick

This summer has kinda been a bummer as far as "weekends on the lake" go. My family usually has several get togethers involving grilled food and boating, but not this summer. I know there will be a next summer, so I am not complaining too much...I just miss it! However, last Saturday we did manage to make it to Pickwick to hang out with people we love! We didn't take the boat out, but quite honestly, we didn't really miss it.

First, we stopped at the camper and got to play with this cute little red headed boy....

We rode around on the gofcart and looked at "booooattts".

This picture was taken while Bishop and I were watching the boats while my mom took off a girl's toenail. Yes, that is what I said. She took off a girl's (who we did not know) toenail.  We were on the golf cart and got flagged down by a guy whose friend had fallen and hurt her toe. Apparently he had heard that one of us was a nurse. Thank goodness it wasn't me! This, people, is why I am not a nurse.

After said random toenail incident,  we went back to the camper to get a snack and play with Grandaddy.

Isn't that coozie sippy cup the coolest?

After visiting with the parents for a while, we packed up and headed down the road to the Caver's condo with Anne and Bill, Maggie and Josh, and Walker and um, I can't remember her name but I liked here and she was fun.

We played, ate some delicious food, and had a blast! We ended up staying late (thank goodness for the pack and play) and even got to see Rebecca and her folks for a bit while she was in town. She is an awesome photographer I might add. I envy her talent!

Hmmm. This just makes me laugh, sorry Mags :)

He ran back and forth on this porch at least 50 times.

Did I mention the good food??
We had steaks, potatoes, salad, bread, cake, dip, and key lime pie. Oh, and limoncello!
Yummy!

Bishop LOVES JC....

Isn't he going to be a fantastic dad? Just saying...

Bishop also LOVED Walker....

Teaching him a few cords.....

Sweetness!

Then the baby boy went to bed and Leon and I got to catch up with the Cavers and Christophers. It was a fun, fun weekend!

TriBond

Have you ever played this game before? Well, probably not, if it costs $45 from Amazon. Maybe there is a free app for it? But, anyway...Maggie and I used to play this game in high school all of the time. Surely it was not $45?  Anyway, it was a really fun game that can get your mind thinking pretty deeply (scary, right?).

Examples:  Brain, Ears, Lungs...they all have lobes. Car, Tree, Elephant...they all have trunks. You get the idea, right?

Well, I thought of this game today as I was picking up things from our house and I had to share.

So, what do theses 3 random items have in common???

Need a closer look?

Hmmm.....

I thought those little marks looked familiar! It was funny to me, but I don't get it.  He is teething in the BACK of his mouth? Surely he doesn't want to eat these things? Are they really better than corn, broccoli, or carrots?

The wonders of a 16 month old....

Oh, and you should play TriBond sometime...it is fun, I promise!

16 Months

Wow, can we say personality?  Or maybe more appropriately, can we say attitude?

He is still ALL boy...

He is on the go. All. The. Time.

Sometimes you just have to snap a picture as he runs by.

And, he eats at the big table now. With a fork. What is wrong here? Where is my baby? It really is cute though...all of us sitting around the table eating dinner together. It is pretty much the only time he is quite so it is a nice time (usually!) as a family. He learned to take the tray off of his high chair so we had to scoot the chair part up to the table so we don't end up with food all on the floor. And, at the babysitters, he got moved to the big table for safety reasons because he can stand up in her high chair, even when he was strapped in. Independent little man. Gah, stay little longer!

He also gets excited about eating...I asked him last night if he was ready to eat, and he brought me this saying "eat, eat, eat" (It was sitting in the floor since it isn't used most of the time)

Speaking of babysitters, he is still going  which is still a sore subject with me. I want to be home more. Period. I do LOVE my babysitter, I mean, she is family and has kept children in her home for years and years so I completely trust her. It has nothing to do with that, it's just I want more time with him at home. I think he needs it. (no one can convince me otherwise, so don't even try :) ) And, to top it off, he has started crying when I leave him making an already bad situation even worse. I know, everyone goes through "that" phase, but that doesn't help my feelings at all. I'm still hanging on to the idea of part time. I'm pretty sure I have to wait until we have another baby, but I'm still hanging on either way! Leon WILL get tired of hearing it...eventually.

Bishop is testing his boundaries more and more everyday. Sometimes I get upset because I feel like I spend more time disciplining him than I do anything else. But, I know it is what he needs. He tries his limits with everyone. He is going through a not so fun "screaming" stage where he screams if he gets mad or if he wants something. I just keep thinking "this too shall pass."

I think he is finally over digging in the cabinets for hours everyday, at least for now. Now he wants his "cuucks" to sit in the floor while I am cooking and take all of the tops off and try to put them back on. Whatever, it entertains him so I don't mind. It is funny to see how they end up with tops inside of cups and tops on cups that don't fit, etc.

The only problem is that he never seems to have enough.

Asking me for another "cuuuck, cuuuck"

How can you say no to those big brown eyes?

And, the hair, wow.  It is still curly, but has moved into another stage. I can't bear to cut it yet; I've been dealing with him being called a girl for 16 months now, so I'm over that part.

It is fine just after it is washed and combed, but he wakes up like this......

I'm seriously contemplating product...don't judge.

And, the child loves his daddy. Every morning he wakes up saying "daddy, daddy, daddy". He starts out as if he is asking his daddy to save him....then after a hundred or so times, it turns into "da-DDY, da-DDY" as if he is demanding out of bed right now. It is funny to listen to.

In fact, not only does he love his daddy, but he is just like his daddy.

He likes to sleep....

Watch TV...

And make funny faces in the mirror at himself....

Oh, and, he LOVES his momma too!

[Insert photo of him giving his mom a big hug and patting her on the back...maybe even giving her a kiss here]

It is kind of hard for the photographer to photograph that, but it is something I don't need a photo to remember. It is pretty much a feeling that will stay with me forever.

I look forward to another month with this angel!

Weekend at the Warrington's

We had a WAY overdue trip to Kosciusko a few weeks ago. I think JJ and I decided that it was the longest we had gone without seeing each other in several years. We can not let that happen again. It was so good to see them.  Our boys get along really well..as much as an 18 month old and a 15 month old can, that is. They played and danced around in Harvey's room Saturday morning.

Then after some mommy shopping time, lunch, and naps, we played outside on the water slide and had a cookout with JJ's family and friends. Or at least that was supposed to be what happened.

Bishop woke up crying from his nap with a 102 fever. He has never had a 102 fever in his entire 15 months and he gets one when we are away from home. GREAT! He acted fine, just had a fever.  I still freaked out about it a little.

So, he had to take it easy until it cooled of so we spent a lot of the afternoon inside watching Mickey Mouse while everyone else played.

The sweet Johnson girls came and played too.

Wrigley enjoyed the water too!

After the tylenol took effect and we had nurse RoRo's approval, Bishop finally got to play a little in the water.
He kept pointing at everyone in the pool saying "wa wa, wa wa" which of course means "water" in Bishop lanquage.

Emma Grace really loves the water slide!

And sweet Emerson prefered driving the Flintstone car.

And, what is a summer party without......

We also got to play with Hill Hawkins...yet another reason we wish Kosciusko was closer!

Sweet blue-eyed boy!

They both wanted in the car at first, but we convinced Bishop that it was "fun" to push Hill around in it.

Hill doesn't look convinced....

They really did have fun! However, Bishop is not the best driver though, he kept pushing Hill into Allens truck. Hill didn't seem to mind though.

Isn't this child precious?! I miss him and can't wait to see him again in THREE weeks...at the BEACH!

Fever? What? Who?

And maybe my favorite part of the day, even though it didn't even involve me was the late afternoon. Allen and Leon took the boys for a ride in the truck around in the pasture. It was the cutest thing ever. I think it pretty much made Leon's week.

***Please no one think I am a terrible mom for letting him do all of these things while he was sick. You honestly wouldn't have even known it by the way he was acting. Plus, I did check with people who had more experience than me to make sure he was ok.  AND, most of the time we were inside resting. I promise. ***
