MSU Homecoming

Like I said, we are crazy. Not only did we go to Jonah's birthday party and the Bear Affair this past weekend, we also made it back to Starkville in time for the game. Of course, when I say game...I really mean tailgate. I haven't made it to a game this year! I just don't want to pay for a ticket and have B man unhappy the whole time. We find it much more fun to show our spirit at the tent...with the stroller nearby if needed! We had soo much fun and can't wait to go back!

All ready to go!

October birthdays

This post should actually have been before the Bear Affair post since I am trying to stay in chronological order but it wasn't. Oh well! So, Friday night we had the "October birthdays" party as we call it at my grandmothers for Jonah, Wendy, Scott, and Leon. Actually, not everyone actually has a birthday in October...Scott and Leon have birthdays in September, but they don't really count. Whose birthday does it REALLY look like??

Yep, This guy.....

Jonah is one of a kind to say the least! Got to love this kid! He loves John Deere and anything to do with outside, building and "working", and he even loves to cook...hence the kitchen for his birthday. He is very kind hearted too! Since he loves John Deere so much, we went with that theme for the cake, etc. I was quite proud of my cake. I had not made one in a quite a while and had a yard sale that morning, a baby to take care of, and bags that had to be packed for the crazy weekend ahead. I could have gone completely overboard with the cake, so I am kinda glad that I didn't have much time. I think it turned out pretty good. The birthday boy at least liked it!

Yes, we are crazy. We went all the way to Rolling Fork for the Bear Affair, got some tshirts, ate some corn dogs and chicken-on-a-stick and drove back to Starkville. Well, we also got to see Papoo, Pojo, Page, and Max and several other of Leon's family members. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, and I think B man enjoyed himself. He loves his Papoo and he loves kids...so he was in luck. I think his first time in the Delta went well!

The big ONE HALF

6 MONTHS!! Wow...that is just crazy to say! My little sweet baby is growing up so fast! Oh, how he just melts my heart! Bishop at 6 months.....

  • Sleeps from 7:30 until around 7...give or take 30 minutes. If it is before 7, he eats and goes back to sleep with me until 7:30 or 8:00.  I have to say, this is one of my favorite parts of the day. I really don't know who is spoiled more...him or ME??
  • Loves food. Except bananas...not the biggest fan of bananas. He does this all over body shake sometimes when he takes a bite. I keep trying them...and he keeps refusing them! He LOVES squash, sweet potatoes, pears, peaches, green beans, and apples. He tolerates carrots and green peas. He is very particular about the temperature of his food though. This kiddo is not about to eat some room temperature food! He prefers the stuff I make, but he will eat the store bought kind too.
  • Is very picky about the temperature of his milk...he will NOT drink it if it isn't warm enough. He used to drink it almost out of the fridge...not now! He almost likes it hot! I sometimes have to re-warm it half way through. This is all fine and dandy at home...but at football games, restaurants, etc...it is quite frustrating!
  • Is still is on a pretty good schedule (most days) which consists of....
    • 7-8 breakfast
    • 9:30-11:30 nap
    • 11:30-12 lunch
    • 2:00-4:00 nap
    • 4:30-5:00 supper
    • 7:30 bedtime
  • Loves his new (to us) VTech sit to stand toy, LOVES to jump in the Jumperoo, plays with toys in his playpen, and still watches the same Baby Einstein videos in his swing. I read to him most nights and I think he likes that...he likes to help turn the page at least.
  • Is discovering his voice. This week he sounds like a Kung Fu fighter but last week he sounded like a dying cat. That was real fun in public. I much prefer the new sound...it is sooo sweet! He has learned to fake cough which is not my favorite sound, but he's still cute.
  • Likes his bath, but doesn't soak me quite as much these days. He is too obsessed with the soap and shampoo bottles and too interested in trying to turn on the faucet to worry with splashing! Oh, and eating the washcloth, soap and all.
  • Scoots everywhere...can't leave him alone in the floor anymore. He'll end up all the way across the floor or in the fireplace!
  • LOVES to be outside and LOVES Abby (and Rocket!!). He can be in the grouchiest mood (which is honestly rare) and take him outside or let him see a dog and he is good!
  • Is very loved by his mommy and daddy!!

10 Years, Really?!?

We had our 10 year reunion last weekend and had an absolute blast! We had been planning it for months and were starting to fret that it would not be worth our efforts, but I think everyone had a wonderful time! We enjoyed catching up with everyone, looking at old photos, and DANCING! This was also the first night to spend away from my little B man, and we both made it just fine! Boy, was I glad to see him Sunday though!

Fall Festival

As part of our class reunion, we set up a booth at the fall festival in Booneville as a way to see everyone and their kids. It was a good bit of work, but it was a lot of fun seeing everyone! It turned out to be a beautiful day and Heather came with mom and Gerald and brought the boys. Bishop enjoyed seeing them!

Disclaimer: I did terrible with taking pictures at FF. I only took a handful, and they weren't all that good, but I got a couple and a got a few from Maggie's camera also....

What a weekend....

Ok, not really...It was fabulous though! Friday night we went to Lowe's (what all married folks do on Friday night, right) and got a lawn sweeper. Wow, we needed this two years ago! Let's just see if we can keep up with the ridiculousness of the leaves in our yard. Anyway, Saturday we did some yard work, painted, made baby food, and as always, went to Walmart. Sunday, we went to church and I cooked a 10 lb ham for the two of us! It was yummy, but I have a feeling that I am going to be quite tired of ham in a few days! Anyway...here is a pic after church today. I should have taken pics BEFORE church or at least before lunch...he was SOO tired from no nap and had drool and sweet potatoes all over him. Oh well, it happens!!

Side note: When did my baby get so big??? This outfit is a 12 month! I bought him all of these cute jon-jons in a size 6 month (because he is not even six months yet) for fall and most of them barely fit or won't fit at all!! He literally went from a size 3 month to 9-12 month in a few weeks!!

MSU-GA game

What a fun weekend! Thanks to the Christophers AGAIN for having us ALL weekend long! We had SOOO much fun...even if over the course of the weekend we ended up with a blown away and broken tent (which lead to a ruined sandwich and cheese tray), a broken hammock, torn jeans (and skinned up knee..Mags!), and a wet phone that was out of commission for a day or so (fixed now...yay!). It was well worth it! It is amazing how much Bishop has grown in a month since the first game. Now he is not so much interested in napping in his stroller which lead to a fairly grumpy baby by the end of the day..grumpy for him at least. My parents, Wendy, and Chris also came up for the game...it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend and we can't wait for another!

No, no, no....

That's what I said today. Bishop has discovered that if he doesn't like the food he is eating, if it is not the optimum temperature or texture that he likes, or if he is full....he can just spit it everywhere. "Blowing rasberries" so I have heard it termed...not sure who gave it that name. Anyway, it goes EVERYWHERE and it is not pretty. I try to tell him no, even though he has no idea what I mean and just gives me a huge mouth-full-of-food grin. So hard not to laugh! It feels weird; I really don't like telling my sweet baby boy no already!!

Destin...

I love Destin. I could live there. Well, I could if I won the lottery. Otherwise, I guess I'll just visit. Anyway, we just got back from Bishop's first (of many) vacations with the Warringtons. Actually now, it has been about a month ago...I'm just behind AGAIN. We had a lot of fun! It is amazing how different our vacations are now! We spent more time planning what we were going to be doing (around naps, eating, etc) than we did actually doing things! I would not have it any other way tho! We still managed to make it to the beach (for a very short period of time), pool, the outlet mall a few times (during naps), and to Baytowne. We of course ate some fabulous food! We can't wait to do it again next year! We have already decided, however, that we are taking a sitter for some extra hands....next year they will be all over the place!

Five Months

Really? Five months already?? Ok, time for the monthly tear. Although it is hard to believe, I love this little guy more and more every single day!

Five-month-old Bishop......
  • Loves his Jumperoo...he jumps and jumps...and jumps! He still loves the toy that we inherited from Max that plays music when he kicks it. We play with one for a while, then switch to the other. He still will swing some...but mainly just when he watches his Baby Einstein videos. Those are weird, btw...but he loves them.
  • Rolls all of the time. It is getting hard to change his diaper when he is constantly trying to roll over.
  • Still sleeps pretty good...just got back rom Destin so he is a little off of his routine....I know he will get it back tho. He has been waking up around 5:30 or so wanting to eat and go back to sleep.
  • LOVES plain cereal....says "mmmm" after every bite! Loves sweet potatoes and bananas too. The only green food we have tried so far has been sweet peas- not a fan. Also, not a fan of avacodo. At all. Will also have to try again on those. He likes prunes (especially mixed with apples), apples, squash, carrots, and sweet potatoes.
  • Still talks a good bit...maybe not AS much, but still a lot.
  • Possibly teething...not sleeping or eating quite as well and is a little more fussy...although he is still a super happy baby. He has gone through a phase of not drinking as much milk...at least in a bottle. He barely would take any out of a bottle but has gotten better in the last few days. He still lapped up the cereal though!
  • Still shakes his head to go to sleep..it is the sweetest thing ever! He also likes to wallow in his blankets (I know, not supposed to have blankets in the bed...but he LOVES them!) I don't let him sleep at night with them. He also loves "Dougie", a new cuddley frog that we got at Baytowne Warf as Froggy's replacement. We somehow managed to lose "Froggy" (his Wubba Nub) , while on vacay...but he NEVER actually sucked the paci part anyway. He just chewed it...so we got him a replacement that is super soft and does not have a paci. He's a happy kiddo.
  • Such a snuggle bug...love this boy!!
